First Baptist Church of New London, Connecticut

First Baptist Church is a church in transition.  As we prepare to celebrate our 210th anniversary in February, 2014, we are hard at work making plans for our third century of ministry in the City of New London.  We believe that our ministry is being called to evolve to embrace the multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment which defines our city.  As a result of this vision, we are looking to join our ministries to those of our sister church, Primera Iglesia Bautista Hispana.  In addition, we are now supporting a new Haitian ministry which gathers here for worship in French at 11:30 AM on Sunday mornings.

Our congregation gathers at 10:00 AM for traditional English worship services.  We ordinarily meet in our Sanctuary, but in the summer and winter months we often meet in our newly-renovated Chapel, which is both air conditioned and well-insulated.

A free Community Meal is provided to anyone in need on the first, third and fourth Saturdays of the month at 5:00 PM.  These dinners are generously prepared and served by members of First Baptist, Quaker Hill Baptist in Waterford, and Primera Iglesia.

A new 2,400 square foot athletic facility has been created in our old youth room for use by Heavy Hitters USA, a local youth serving agency.  Youth involved in Heavy Hitters' programs acquire more than just a workout; the mentoring relationships that the youth develop with the various coaches in the programs are viewed as equally important.

First Baptist Church is a church for you if you are eager to help develop or participate in new and innovative ministries designed to meet the spiritual and physical needs of the people of New London.  Our church is Christ-centered and Bible-based, but we welcome all persons into our worship and program activities.
